Lawyer says Taylor Swift had no reason to lie about groping

He says Mueller was wrong Tuesday when he said that Baldridge's claim that he was seeking 15 times the amount of his salary was incorrect.

Swift's lawyers called the image "damning" proof that Mueller inappropriately touched her. Mueller argues it shows him trying to jump into the frame.

Baldridge also quoted a deposition by Swift's photographer Stephanie Simbeck, who said Swift uttered "that guy" had grabbed her behind.

The photo of that meet-and-greet, which was leaked a year ago and shown in court on Tuesday, will be a central piece of evidence in the trial. Mueller is seeking $3 million in damages. "A woman gets assaulted, a woman reports it, and she gets sued".

Swift is expected to give evidence in the case, along with members of her entourage.

Swift's business manager, Jesse Schaudies Jr., said her side did not want the picture in the news.

Her lawyer says she will be taking to the stand to declare she believes it was indeed assault, while David Mueller "unequivocally denies" any wrongdoing.

According to his suit, Mueller is accusing the singer of "intentional interference with contractual obligations" and "interference with prospective business relations" that led to lost wages.

Mueller maintains that although he applied at top 20 market radio stations after he was sacked, he was unable to find new job following Swift's allegation and being fired from KYGO.

"I want to clear my name", Mueller, 55, said on the witness stand in the first day of testimony for the trial stemming from Swift's allegations.

Wednesday's court proceedings were delayed by a closed evidentiary hearing that lasted almost two hours. One of her more pronounced reactions came when Mueller mentioned that he had deleted an audio recording of a meeting with his bosses regarding the incident, in order to record video at a John Mayer concert at Red Rocks.

Swift has countersued, claiming she was sexually assaulted.

Ms Swift, who was 23 at the time of the incident, is suing Mr Mueller for the symbolic amount of $1.

U.S. District Judge William Martinez ordered jurors, spectators and the media to leave his courtroom Wednesday so Swift's and Mueller's attorneys could discuss undisclosed evidentiary matters.

David Mueller is radio DJ who has reportedly worked in the industry for 20 years.

In his opening statement, lawyer Douglas Baldridge asked what possible reason Swift would have to make up an allegation that former Denver radio host David Mueller touched her backside during a concert meet-and-greet in 2013.

Baldridge is asking Mueller about testimony from Swift's team who were in the photo both with the two on June 2, 2013, in which several people said they had either seen Mueller lift Swift's skirt or heard her talking about it directly afterward.

And if Swift is awarded additional damages, she plans to donate the money to causes "dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard" (per CNN).
