On Tuesday night, district superintendent Oliver Robinson said that the budget vote serves a few different purposes.

The new school's site plan was approved at the city of Lodi Planning Commission's meeting last week.

Howell's residential and commercial property owners will pay $78.1 million in local taxes (64.5 percent of the total budget) to support the operation of the school district.

The New York State School Boards Association says Wednesday that voters defeated just five of the 676 budgets proposed by school boards around the state on Tuesday.

Sagaponack voters unanimously passed the school's $1.7 million budget proposal, with 19 votes for and none against.

"The impact a great teacher makes can never be underestimated", Robison said, "and we want that to be reflected in a teacher's compensation".

About a dozen volunteers met throughout the year to develop the recommendations, she said.

John Florussen with 325 votes, Laraine Gell with 318 were elected to the school board.

Residents also approved a proposition that will allow the district to purchase three propane-powered school buses. He starts July 1.

"The board and administrative team have worked to develop a responsible budget for the district", board president Melanie Anderson said. The BOE budget passed with 763 "Yes" votes and 426 "No" votes. But, on this (Tuesday's vote) I'm glad the community supported me.

Mr. Perez also praised the approval of the spending plan and said he's looking forward to a future serving district residents.

Cassie Miller-Kristel was elected to the school board, defeating incumbent Kevin Capobianco, 192-111.

Voters also elected three new members to the Board of Education.

Even so, she had a delayed reaction to the news as she failed to pick on that fact due to all the commotion surrounding the announcement.

On the Bridgehampton School Board, Kathleen McCleland, an incumbent, was returned to the board with 136 votes, and Markanthony Verzosa, a newcomer, received 116 votes to take the other seat. "I have written about this issue in previous communications, but given the increased attention this issue has been receiving, it is worth reiterating that I voted to fund class size reductions". Of the three candidates vying for the school board's only vacancy, Steven Smith was declared the victor, with 227 votes. City officials expressed concern about losing federal money after the Trump administration said they would withhold funding from jurisdictions that do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities. He said will be replaced on the board next year by student Regan Dolan, who was present at the meeting. Proposition 4, to establish a capital reserve fund for improvement and acquisition of equipment, passed 98 to 22.

"We have to think outside of the box to have a balanced budget and an educational system that challenges our students", Zelich said.

Voter turnout was on par with the prior year.
